BLOOD PRESSURE AND CHOLESTEROL
NEW TARGET VALUES
The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) have revised the target values for patients suffering from arterial hypertension. The limits set in the guidelines are 140 mmHg (systolic) and 90 mmHg (diastolic).
Already in 2011, recommended values for blood fats had been lowered by European expert societies. LDL cholesterol in patients with known coronary artery disease or diabetes should not exceed 70 mg/dl.
