DYSIS
GERMANY FAR BEHIND THE UK
During the congress of the European Society of Cardiology in Amsterdam, the Vice Chairman Dr. Gitt presented one specific result of DYSIS, the international dyslipidemia study: In the United Kingdom, 80% of all patients achieve the target value for LDL cholesterol. In Germany, only 42% do.
It is interesting to observe that in Germany the more effective medication is prescribed less frequently and at lower dosage. Discussion is know whether this behavior must be attributed to the variations in doctors‘ fees – in Germany restrictive budgets, in the UK more financial incentives to reach target values.
